Paradise Street Development Area deal signed.

On Friday January 31st 2003 the Duke of Westminster signed a £750m deal that will bring about Liverpool's biggest-ever city centre facelift.
The agreement, between the Duke's development company, Grosvenor, and Liverpool City Council, will promise the work will begin in June, 2004.
The project means Liverpool's shopping centre will rival that of Manchester and Leeds, and has already attracted interest from names such as Harvey Nichols and House of Fraser.
Most of the work on the redevelopment of a 42-acre site behind Church Street - known as the Paradise Street Development Area - will be completed by 2007, when Liverpool celebrates its 800th anniversary.
The whole project will be finished in 2008 when Liverpool will hopefully celebrate being Europe's Capital of Culture.
The scheme will create a million square feet of leisure, retail and housing develop-ment across a site that takes in land between Hanover Street and Wapping. There will be three new department stores, two hotels and a car park beneath a new-look Chavasse Park.
